Wouldn’t it be nice to have more organization sprinkled about in our lives! If you have an abundance of clutter in your home, it makes it more difficult. It sometimes can be changeling decided what is and isn’t clutter in your home and reducing it.

When you know the simple solutions to reducing clutter, can make it more simplified and reach that goal of organization. The closest is the number #1 place to find clutter as it can become an easy place to stuff things out of sight quickly. With continued stashing, it can quickly become out of control and an inconvenience when you are trying to find your coat and shoes!

A way to reduce closet clutter is to find appropriate storage solutions. If you closest doesn’t contain a shelf, install one. By placing labeled stack-able bins helps organize and makes it easy to see what is there.
Especially if you use clear bins.

Keep in mind, one goal of reducing clutter is to get rid of what is not in use or what you don’t use.

Are you really going to get around to reading those old magazines or are they just piling up? A good solution might be to go through the magazines and cut out the articles that you would like to keep and use plastic sleeves and place them in a binder. This can become a clever way to keep your do it yourself project instructions organized.

Under the bed is another clutter nightmare. Shoes, memory boxes, bedding, it all seems like there is no where else to keep this stuff. Well, if you have done your job right in the closet, you may have just gained a place. But, you can also find simple solutions to your storage problem here too. Purchase bed lifts to maximize the space you have under your bed for storage. You can also try using space bags to hold your seasonal bedding. Space bags allow you to suck all of the air out of the bag so that the bag and bedding within it becomes smaller and easier to store. Bins that have wheels on them and easily slide out from under your bed is also an easy way to store items but still keep them close at hand.

To tackle and reduce clutter is about assessing the items value and is it worth keeping? Keep asking yourself these questions:
Have you used in in the last year?
Do you have a duplicate of this one, which one is the better one?
Is it working?
What is the reason your are keeping it? Guilt?
Does it fit you?

Addressing questions like those can be difficult to answer however keeping focused on obtaining the end goal you started out with -the organized living environment. Be honest with yourself and stay focused until you have achieved your goal.

Finding Replacement Window Screens

It’s a real pain when you have a missing or broken window screen at home. You cannot open up your window to appreciate a breeze without insects coming inside, not to mention, it kills your curb-appeal. Often though, if you have outdated window products installed in your home, you may be unable to easily find a replacement.

You should conduct ample amounts of research on replacement window screens before starting your project.

Fortunately, there are several producers out there that will be more than happy to help you look for a screen that works for you. Suppliers like Pella, Andersen, and Marvin are merely some of the more popular choices that lots of people go with. They can be found nationwide so regardless of whether your home is in California, New York or anywhere in between, you will be able to find a dealer near you.

If you are blessed with kids or pets, your window screens are likely to suffer torturous inflictions. Kittens and cats like to sharpen their claws on the mesh-like material. Over time, your cat’s thorough grooming will leave your screen in shreds. Kids love pressing and poking at the bendable material until it rips from the frame.

You can change the ripped screen yourself if the frame is undamaged and your do-it-yourself abilities are fairly functional. Repair products and directions can be found at a fraction of the cost to totally replace the frame and screen.

Doing your own window screen replacement isn’t just economical, it provides you with a feeling of achievement.

Windows are not really the only accessories within your home that could need replacement screens. French doors also need a screen so you can benefit from the outside air without nature’s little creatures. What exactly happens when somebody unintentionally runs right through the screen door or your animal’s claws shred it to bits? You will have to locate a replacement screen door, not pet or good friend.

You will find a myriad of frames to get the job done and many take aluminum or fiberglass mesh screens. Even if bits of your current frame are missing you can still acquire corner pieces and springs to have it fixed up right away. A simple search on the internet or at your local do it yourself retailer will demonstrate how easy is it to get the elements you require to change your screen quickly.

Do you use stainless steel flatware and cookware in your kitchen? If so then you’ve probably noticed by now that they have lost or are losing their chrome finish. This makes them easy to start becoming tarnished and to quite possibly start rusting as well. If this were to happen it could affect your health. Here are some simple guidelines in cleaning your stainless steel:

Using Vinegar as a cleaner on stainless steel

One of the finest cleaners that you probably already have in your home is white undiluted vinegar. It’s perfect for removing grease stains since its both non toxic and doesn’t change the appearance of the finish.

Always test before applying on surface. Never put Vinegar on Marble surfaces.

Just take a damp cloth and rub the stains with the vinegar then follow up with warm soapy water. Not only will the stains be removed but your stainless steel will be left shiny and bright.

A baking soda paste of baking soda and water also cleans pans and stainless steel, rub the same way as the grain and rinse well. For baked on and dried food on stainless pots, put a little hot water in the bottom and baking soda. Let sit overnight and in the morning use a spatula to remove any stuck parts, scrub and rinse!

Making a stronger cleaner

If you have really persistent spots then try cleaning your stainless steel with a mixture of any non-gel toothpaste mixed with a drop of ammonia. This should do the trick.

Apply with a soft dry cloth and then rinse well. Remember for those persistent stains to rub with the finish and not against it. Also do not rub in a circular motion as this could damage your stainless steel.

If for some reason this isn’t working and you find yourself annoyed, exhausted and with your patience worn thin, then it’s time to use a gentle abrasive cleaner. Obviously you want to avoid any harsh chemical cleaning solutions as they could quite possibly cause more damage than good.

Start with a homemade solution of water and baking soda. Mix them to a paste like creamy texture and rub this mixture onto the steel. Use a soft dry clean cloth then scrub well and rinse completely.

I also recommend a good commercial cleaner (only if all else fails) called “Bar Keepers Friend.” You can find this at most grocery stores. This product will make your stainless steel shine like new again.

You also have the option of placing your stainless steel in the dishwasher. This is better for the small things such as your utensils as larger items may have burnt food stuck on them. The gentle non abrasive cleaning action of your dishwasher works well on stainless steel.

Other Stainless Steel Cleaning tricks

Here are a few other tricks to use on stainless steel. Remember though do not use these recipes or products on real silver:

If you have large stainless steel kitchen appliances, such as stove, refrigerator and dishwasher then mix one part white vinegar with one part water. Pour this mixture into a spray bottle and use a paper towel or dry clean cloth to wipe clean. After you’ve finished doing this it is a good idea to apply a layer of stainless steel polish. This will protect the finish and keep it from attracting dirt and grime.

If your stainless steel has burnt on food then fill the pot up with hot water. Take a fabric dryer sheet and drop into the water. Let this soak for ½ hour or possibly all night if it’s really a bad stain. The next day the burnt on food will come off easily. No scrubbing needed either.

Many times a closet can become a very confused mess. You may have sporting goods in the bottom with shoes and boots piled on top of them. The closet may have become a quick hiding place when tidying up the place for company that calls just before dropping in.

While the door is closed, you may feel like it is out of sight and out of mind, but open the door and the mess is there greeting you once again.

In you need some organization for your closet, try shopping for home storage solutions. You will find several home closet organization systems available that will help to organize a closet for maximum efficiency in storage of everything that needs to be stored in there. Additionally, an organized closet allows the owner to open doors and find the needed item with less frustration.

Rather than lay the electric guitar in the bottom of the closet try standing it at one end. If you keep it in its case, you will find that it takes little space and can still be easily accessed when it is time to play. If the case continues to fall over, try attaching a loose bungee cord to two eye hooks to hold the case in place. A cord and one at the bottom will hold the case securely without damage.

If you have skiing equipment, you can use a similar method to hold it into place. Two bungee cords, each attached to an eye hook that has been placed at either the top or bottom of the skis helps to keep the equipment in place so that it does not fall on your head when trying to retrieve other items from the closet. In addition, there is no danger of stepping on a ski pole and bending it if it is held in pace using the eye hooks and the bungee cord at the end of the closet.

Closets are designed for storing clothing, but if you only have one shelf above a long closet rod, you are not using this space to its greatest efficiency. Some clothing is best stored when lying flat and shoes stored on a shoe rack are held together so that you are not constantly looking for one lost shoe. The rack is an excellent way to protect the shoes from being damaged in the bottom of a closet.

Consider using double hanging racks, one above the other for most hanging clothes. Only dresses need full length hanging space. The high and low level bars are great for pants skirts and blouses. Even most suits, coats and blazers work fine

Good old fashioned hands on techniques and consistent follow through is often required when home cleaning needs to be done. If you make it a bit of fun when following through, the little things can surprisingly add up in savings of time and shining through with a clean result. Here are 12 tips to save time and have a little fun:

1. See how many rooms you can get clean in 15 minutes by setting a timer, it just might surprise you!

2. Cleaning for shorter periods of time makes it seem much easier and smaller. If you’re in the mood to clean for longer then put on a musical CD or talking book and time will go faster. You might actually find yourself waiting till the CD is over before stopping!

3. Stock all your cleaning supplies in one carry bucket.

4. When you are cleaning windows wipe up and down for the outside and side to side for the inside. It’s an easy way and fast way to figure out which side the streaks are on and take care of them.

5. When cleaning an entire room, so you will not miss anything, start at the top and work your way to the bottom.

6. Have recyclable bags and scooper located near litter boxes, to make it faster and easier to clean.

7. The next time you empty your trash place clean garbage bags in the bottom of each. This way it will make emptying them each time faster.

8. An extension cord goes along way, and attach one to the your vacuum, and you will not have to unplug it as often or relocate to a closer plug.

9. Keep a small supply of cotton swabs and a toothbrush in your cleaning supplies bucket to get those little nooks that are hard to reach clean.

10. Put things away as you go, really is one of the best ways to prevent lots of messes. Teach others living with you to clean up after themselves.

11. Multi-task whenever you can. Cooking something in the microwave throw in a load of laundry. Or while the dishwasher is running then throw a load of laundry in the washer at the same time.

12. When you are cooking it is also a great idea that you clean as you cook. Wash your pots and pans when you are finished with them, making the clean up after dinner a breeze.

We all want to do our part to protect the environment, but without a large paycheck, that can be seem difficult, if not impossible. But doing your part doesn’t have to be hard. Small steps add up to a big difference, you just have to know which ones to take.

Use less water.

Saving water is all about small steps, here are a few that will help save big.

- Shut off the water while you brush your teeth
- Take showers that are a minute or two shorter
- Only flush the toilet when you need to
- Only run full loads of laundry and dishes
- Buy from sustainable producers. These are farmers, ranchers, and other producers that use techniques that pollute less and use less water. You can do some research online or ask at your local organic market to find these products.

Use less energy.

If you don’t have the money to buy a hybrid car or convert your house to solar power, you can make a big difference with small changes.

- Buy energy efficient appliances. They may be more expensive, but make up for the increased cost in lower energy bills.
- Unplug chargers when you’re not using them. Cell phone and other chargers use up powers even if there’s nothing attached to them.
- Put devices with remotes, like T.V.s, VCRs, and stereos, on a power strip and turn it off when you’re not using them. These devices use a lot of power to run the remote receiver even when the device is off.
- Walk or ride your bike for short trips.
- Buy local products. It takes energy to transport food and other products across the country. Buying local not only supports your local economy, it helps them use less energy.

When it comes to saving energy and water, it’s a great idea to get the kids involved. You can even make it a game. Have them track how much water and electricity everyone is using. You can compete to see who uses the least water. You can often count on your kids to help keep you on track when given the task.

Reuse.

Most of us know the three R’s: reduce, reuse, recycle, but when we work on conserving, we often leave reuse out of the picture. While you can often find tips on how to reuse common products from other people, what you need most is creativity. With a little thought there are many items around your home that can be reused – toilet paper holders can be used to sow seeds for the vegetable patch. And old yogurt containers can be cut into strip to make plant labels. Old food jars can be refilled with homemade foods or can make great impromptu vases.

Use environmentally friendly products. When you go to the grocery store, you probably see more and more “natural” or “eco friendly” products every time. There are generally two big problems with these products: 1. Just because they’re more natural than regular products, doesn’t mean they’re entirely natural. 2, They’re often expensive.

If you want inexpensive, natural, safe products, why not just make them yourself. Vinegar is a great way to clean and disinfect glass and other surfaces. Need to remove stubborn stains? Just add some baking soda to your vinegar cleaner. Some quick searching online will lead you to hundreds of other natural safe home-made cleaning products.

We all knowing that going green means better for the environment, but it’s also better for you. Conserving resources also helps save you money, which is something most of us are happy to live with.

Right here is a simple plan to assist your baby/teen hold their rooms clean. Don’t fear if the room is a disaster. Simply set the timer for quarter-hour every day and get started.

Continue clearing clutter each day until you find the tops of the dressers and the floor. By the top of the week, you may be amazed on the progress! When you are ready- begin the weekly plan.

During the first few weeks, it’s possible you’ll want to help (or not less than supervise). Start by ensuring that the whole lot in the room has a home. Don’t be concerned about perfect organization, just get the surfaces cleared off.

Supplies Needed Trash bag Laundry basket Donate bucket – do away with the gadgets that they no longer love! Assorted baskets or buckets for smaller items Labels – labels make organizing simpler

Every Day Make the bed – have your little one do this earlier than the each day

task

Monday Clear all surfaces (dressers, table, nightstands, etc.)

Tuesday Dust all surfaces – this ought to be easy since they are all cleared off.

Wednesday Clear the floor (simply the visible components for right now)

Thursday Sweep or vacuum

Friday Choose a spot – you or your little one can decide one spot for the day. Make a list of all

the issue spots in the room and slowly check them off. – Beneath the bed – Behind the dresser – One dresser drawer – One shelf – _________________ – _________________ – _________________ – _________________

Saturday Change sheets and bring all laundry to laundry room

Sunday Free Day – you too can use this as a make up day

Every week, make a psychological word of the gadgets that find yourself scattered about. Use baskets, packing containers, shelves or create your personal solution to maintain these items together. You might have to

attempt a number of totally different solutions earlier than you find one that works. If one thing appears to be working… depart it alone! Every day, encourage your child to carry out the scheduled tasks. Give them a time restrict and use a timer (15 minutes ought to be sufficient time).

Don’t be too picky, just attempt to information them. They may quickly work out that if they clear their dresser on Monday and throw all the pieces on the floor, that on Wednesday they will have to pick that stuff up AGAIN once they clear the floor.

Remember… it only takes 15 minutes per day to keep your child’s bedroom neat and clean.
