Cleaning Tips
Choose the room you will be cleaning first. Give it a good look over. What do you see? Cob webs on the ceiling? Oh wait that just may be my own house and not yours. Walls that are dirty and pictures with cob webs attached? Once again this just might be my own. What I’m getting at is that most of us start with the ceiling and work our way down.
- Start with your ceiling, walls, fans, furniture and saving your floors for last.
So let’s start with the ceiling. I hate climbing ladders and straining my neck by looking upwards so much so that I came up with this idea:
- Place a dampened cloth with cleaner on it over the bristles of a broom and started sweeping my ceiling free of those pesky cob webs.
- No neck strain and no ladder climbing necessary either. Now this is my kind of cleaning, easy and well done.
Next you have your walls and pictures. Clean your walls the same exact way as your ceilings. Only replace the dirty rag with a clean one now.
- For your pictures, simply slip an old sock over your hand and lightly spray it down with your glass cleaner. Run your hands over the picture, admiring what it is of, and clean away. Look you were admiring so much and having fond memories you didn’t even realize you were cleaning! Now those two chores are taken care of.
- On to the furniture and your TV screens and computer monitors. Once again place another old clean sock over your hand, lightly spray with the glass cleaner and rub over your TV and monitors. Now look, sparkling clean. Do the same for the wood furniture as well, of course using another clean sock with furniture spray.
Upholstered Furniture
Now it’s time to move on to your upholstered furniture. I always hated cleaning the couch’s and chairs with a passion. I mean a complete passion and always vacuumed them about once a week. This killed my back by having to bend over and stay bent over. Thanks to my cats and dog for this, it took an entire hour.
Then one day it hit me, why not deep clean with the vacuum about once a month and for the everyday cleaning use a lint brush? Why hadn’t I thought of this before? Because all that was really needed was a swipe over to remove the pet hair. So try this trick for your upholstered furniture and make it simpler and easier on yourself.
Cleaning the floors
Now let’s move on to the final cleaning of the day, your floors. I used to be an avid believer in the mop and bucket, but no more. I’m all for an easier way and one that’s less time consuming as well. Plus I also think it’s a lot cleaner to use this as well. You use a clean pad each time and aren’t pushing that dirty mop water around on your floors this way.
I purchased one of those new mops that have the cleaning solution attached. The type you place a new cleaning cloth onto (or attach a cleaning cloth} and your cleaning solution is already there(and you can refill yourself too) and ready. This is also an organized way to clean your floors. Everything is all ready and together just waiting on you to use it. I like this new invention. I wish like heck it was invented when my kids were little. Oh at the time saving and easier way then.
So you’re finished for the day, pat yourself on the back for a job well done. See how much simpler and easier that was? What’s better is it didn’t take you all day once you had your supplies organized and all together in the carriers. Take these tips from me and you’ll find yourself not dreading cleaning as bad as before. At least now you won’t get struck by lightning!

I wish more people would write blogs like this that are really fun to read. With all the fluff floating around on the net, it is rare to read a blog like this instead.
